somehow,it just doesn't seem like a wednesday today..i guess its bcos my CCA have stopped n hence, my supposedly longer days seem shorter.
career seminar today. i thought it was enriching..though at some point of time during the talks, i felt like dozing off. -i was busy rushing through my GP assignment the night b4- was pretty interested in SMU after their director shared with us the importance of a personal statement during yesterday's mass civics. what i like abt SMU is that its not result-orientated..it admits students based on their contribution & how different they are which makes them stand out frm the crowd. the cutting edge. i believe tt's more essential in today's world rather than those straight As n being conventional. nurturing individuals to be holistic would be definitely more ideal today.
so much abt SMU, i spoke to Ms Sabariah abt their Social Science course cos SMU is usually known for their business courses. she was sharing how at NUS, the cohort is so big that sometimes the environment becomes unfriendly in the sense tt u'll see different faces everyday when u attend different modules lessons. whereas at SMU, the cohort size is a small 1000 n hence, its cosier n friendlier in tt way. she then went on to say tt her students in previous batches tt got into SMU r generally those who are different n have really bright character & leadership..n she also said i wld suit that kind of environment better. however when i went to check out abt the social sciences fac. at the booth, i realise the courses they offer is geared to the industrial side which is not what i wanted. so sadly, SMU will not be my choice then although i really like it! So its down to NUS social sci fac. now(: guess for now, hopefully it'll b my motivation to wk harder cos i heard thatt fac. is getting tougher to get in..its no longer what p'ple perceive as 'those p'ple wif cannot make it grades will go there'.
had a reflection session with my fellow dancemates n Ms In today. after listening to all the various reflections, i suddenly realise that we're achieved alot together as dancers..especially in terms of strong friendship and peserverence. really heartening to hear how everyone has enjoyed dance. many a times, we do not appreciate what we have until its over. n i guess, everyone of us miss dancing alot together. what was the most touching was Ms In's closure speech. i've come to realise tt she's actually a really caring teacher instead of the 'unreasonable person' we thought of her. i guess, many a times teachers have to put a front to set the tone so that we students wld b pressured to excel & i guess in this case, Ms In has also contributed to our SYF success in some way by hafing that silent faith in us (: she gave each of us a parker pen with our names engraved on it & also with the words 'AJC dance society'. she hopes that everytime we use the pen, we'll rmb the bittersweet moments in dance(:
i miss my fattumx :(
